Online Sonography Classes
Sonography, also referred to as ultrasound technology, is a medical discipline used to view tissue under the skin, and incoming sonography students are expected to understand anatomy, physiology, medical terminology and physics. In sonography classes and their required offline clinical components, students are taught sonographic imaging techniques for different areas of the body, the physics behind the technology, and the fundamentals of patient care.

Students gain an understanding of sonographic instrumentation by studying the workings of mechanisms used in sonography. Classes approach topics essential to an ultrasound technician such as acoustics, ultrasound propagation, display methods, and instrument safety.
Anatomy and Physiology
In anatomy and physiology classes, students develop a keen eye for the workings of the human body by studying its system, memorizing bodily systems, identifying body parts, and observing how body systems support one another.
Students learn how sonographic technology works through rigorous study of acoustic physics and flow propagation. Sonographic physics classes teach the physical underpinnings of ultrasound technology, including focal regions, Doppler physics, sound waves, and sonic transducers.
Students learn to use sonographic imaging in pregnancy management and female pelvic diseases. Students assess fetus growth, diagnose fetal problems, identify ovarian cysts, and assess the walls of the uterus.
Classes teach students how to use sonographic tools to examine internal organs like the spleen, liver and kidneys. Students learn how to investigate abnormal lab results, guide doctors through needle biopsies, and create sonographic images of small body parts.

Through required offline clinical practicum's, students operate precision sonographic machinery in real medical settings, developing hand-eye coordination, fine motor skills, manual dexterity, and spatial reasoning in both two-dimensional and three-dimensional environments.
By collecting and evaluating medical information and critiquing sonography case studies, students develop a keen eye for discerning the meaning of a data set. Students assess real sonographic data, examine physics experiment results, and study clinical cases.
Students use computers to enhance sonographic images and analyze data sets, increasing their facility with technology. Computers are used to create and optimize sonographic pictures as well as sort and assess medical data in offline clinical practice sessions.
Critical Thinking and Analysis
By working with real medical data to make informed decisions, sonography students develop skills in critical analysis. Students learn to think about real medical problems and quickly draw conclusions to help a patient, developing the ability to work efficiently in hectic situations.
Through the study of psychology and effective bedside manner, students develop the skill to effectively communicate with patients and medical professionals. Students learn how to convey information about medical procedures, explain technical readouts, and write clear statements regarding patient health.
