Online Plumbing Classes

Online plumbing courses teach students safe installation, testing, and maintenance of pipes that deliver water to buildings or grounds, sewage and drainage systems that remove sanitary waste and waste water, and the types of water fixtures. Students learn about water distribution systems, the types of plumbing fixtures and piping, and the codes that protect public safety.

Students will become familiar with the types of fixtures, their installation, and the tools used for installation. Students learn about various fixtures, including sinks, faucets, tubs, showers, toilets, fire sprinklers, and garbage disposals, as well as tools used in installation.


Courses in piping cover types of pipes, fittings, and valves, as well as installation techniques. Students learn how to measure, cut and join different types of pipes, determine the correct tools and techniques for installing pipes, and follow an architectural diagram for installing pipes.

Plumbing Code

Plumbers must be able to understand and abide by building and plumbing codes for safely regulating potable water and sewage in order to protect public health. Students learn to interpret codes on blueprints, state mandated plumbing codes, and plumbing code enforcement.


Drainage classes cover drain waste and vent systems that are used in roofs, floors, driveways, window wells, swimming pools, spas, and other facilities. Students learn about installation and testing of drainage systems and sump pumps.


These courses cover waste systems for sanitary waste and stormwater. Students in these classes learn to design and install piping and vents for bathrooms and kitchens, calculate grades for drains, use traps and fresh air vents, and become familiar with regulations on sanitary and stormwater waste systems.

Plumbing teach students how to safely use and manipulate a variety of hand and power tools to cut, assemble, and install piping. Students acquire manual dexterity and precise hand-eye coordination by cutting, fitting, welding, and sealing pipes and joints.

Planning and Organization

Students can expect to gain the skills necessary to plan and organize a plumbing job. Students learn how to obtain the correct tools and materials, read construction blueprints, coordinate with construction workers, follow codes, and implement safety precautions.


Students learn the procedures for safely completing a plumbing installation. Students learn to proactively protect their safety, as well as the safety of their co-workers and the public by following safety procedures, plumbing and building codes, and avoiding issues such as contamination and improper disposal of waste.


Classes in plumbing emphasize the math skills needed for this profession. Students learn how to work with fractions, convert between English and metric measurements, calibrate pipe fittings and weights, , take measurements, and calculate volumes and pipe bending angles.

Customer Service

Students learn how to complete a plumbing job with the correct materials and tools in a timely manner that will satisfy the customer. They learn to follow plumbing diagrams and test plumbing systems to identify problems, confirm that the repair or installation was done correctly, and effectively communicate with customers.
