Online Administrative Assistant Classes

The study of administrative assisting focuses on how to provide clerical and organizational support within a business, government agency, school, law office or medical facility. Administrative assistants are required to possess strong oral and written communication skills and understand computer software and office equipment. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, the workforce demand for administrative assistants is expected to increase 11% over the next decade.

Business English

Business English classes focus on writing and vocabulary used in typical business communication, such as presentations, negotiations, meetings, correspondence and report writing.

Word Processing

Students learn word processing, writing and communication skills. This includes knowledge of software applications like desktop publishing and how to format, record, and edit correspondence, reports, statistical tables and other materials.


Students are taught to type quickly and accurately by focusing on spelling, punctuation and grammar. Typing classes provide students with the basic keyboarding and data processing skills necessary to accurately type at a minimum of 30 to 70 words per minute.


Accredited online classes provide students with the ability to create and organize spreadsheets. Students learn to display alphanumeric text, numeric values, and formulas in a two-dimensional grid consisting of rows and columns to capture, analyze and share data.


Students gain an understanding of basic accounting principles and procedures, including how to record transactions, including journal transactions, prepare payroll registers, operate a petty cash fund, reconcile bank statements, and produce reports.
